The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans are here and clear: Americans are advised to eat a plant-based diet which emphasizes vegetables, dry beans and peas, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds. The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee said that adding peanuts and other nuts to our meals “provides an important source of plant protein and other nutrients” which we need every day. Did you know that almost 70% of nuts eaten in the United States are peanuts and peanut butter?
