Southern Peanut Growers Challenges Consumers to Lose the Loaf with Second Annual “PB my way” Recipe Contest and Food Bank Donation

Peanut butter lovers are encouraged to experiment with PB and submit a recipe by March 31

CANTON, GA. — February 17, 2011 — Southern Peanut Growers (SPG) today announced details of its second annual “PB my way” recipe contest, challenging consumers to lose the loaf and enter recipes that are anything but a sandwich. For each recipe received during National Peanut Month in March, SPG will donate a jar of peanut butter (up to 4,000 jars) to hunger relief organization Feeding America.

“Peanut butter is an extremely versatile and nutritious food that is as delicious at dinner as it is for lunch,” says Leslie Wagner, executive director, Southern Peanut Growers. “We can’t wait to see all the ways people “think outside the loaf” and incorporate peanut butter into inspired, everyday meals. We especially look forward to providing peanut butter donations to people in need right now.”

The contest calls for “quick and easy,” yet inspired, main entries that take less than an hour to make, include ten or fewer ingredients, and, of course, feature peanut butter as a starring ingredient. A one-year supply (one case) of peanut butter will be awarded to the top ten participants who enter the most creative and delicious recipes.

Peanut butter lovers nationwide are encouraged to experiment with the essential spread and share their favorite recipe with SPG by March 31, 2011. For more information or to submit a recipe, visit

The top three recipes will be photographed and shared on Facebook, where consumers will have the chance to vote for their favorite. The top recipe will receive a $200 Visa® gift card.
